ABOUT MOUNTAIN MARYLAND ALLIANCE FOR REPRODUCTIVE FREEDOM
Mountain Maryland Alliance for Reproductive Freedom is a grassroots organization focusing on reproductive healthcare and reproductive justice in Mountain Maryland. Our organization strives to bring accurate and factual education to the people living in Allegany and Garrett counties regarding reproductive healthcare and support their choices to have the families they want when they want.
OUR APPROACH
At Mountain Maryland Alliance for Reproductive Freedom, we believe that every person has the right to make informed choices about their reproductive healthcare. We work to provide accurate and up-to-date information about reproductive health, including contraception, abortion, and sexual health. Our organization advocates for policies that support reproductive justice, including access to affordable healthcare and comprehensive sex education. We also work to combat stigma and promote reproductive freedom for all. We want the people of Mountain Maryland to have the families they want, when they want with no pressure or no shame.
OUR MISSION

To provide and facilitate education concerning sex and reproductive healthcare in a factual, open and nonjudgmental manner;

To advocate for public policy that ensures accessible and affordable family planning services and reproductive choice in healthcare, including contraception and abortion;

To coordinate efforts with other individuals and organizations that support reproductive rights and accessible and affordable reproductive healthcare, family planning services and education; and

To aid and support all Marylanders’ ability to have and maintain healthy families.
OUR START
In June 2022, when SCOTUS leaked the Dobbs decision, a few like minded people in Mountain Maryland gathered and decided enough was enough. They began meeting via Zoom, attending trainings by some of the most knowledgeable reproductive health care organizations in Maryland and our nation, and formed a plan to bring education and services to Mountain Maryland. The Mountain Maryland Alliance for Reproductive Freedom was created out of the vision that the liberty to make decisions about reproductive health is a human right.
Soon opportunities to serve and educate our community began pouring in and we have been busy ever since!
